Well this time last year I tried to get Media Passes to cover a local event in advance for you, but luck was not on my side (if you believe in that kind of thing.) Read what happened last year and why I was, well, flustered and frozen out of ICE. Not sure if I am going to try again this year. Maybe they will have a new smart PR person...
"Free Hugs", "high five" and "marco - polo" seemed to be randomly yelled in the park throughout the night. I even got tagged by a random kid for "tag your it". Just teenagers having a good time. If you ask those in attendance what band they want to see during the night the answer...
Eat at a Never-Ending Pie Buffet next weekend...
Orlando area twitter-ers and those interested in becoming one have their own "Tweetup". On Thursday, February 19th at 5:30 PM at Scruffy Murphy's Pub in College Park come meet with your fellow tweeps.
I feel like I'm standing in front of the Soup Nazi in Seinfeld, I've been told No ICE for me. I'll try not to mention the name, don't want to give them too much publicity but I'm sure you can figure it out... This all started with a phone call at the start of December, then e-mails for media access to the "nearly two million pounds of ice" and I just got the answer today. From the PR director – "regretfully will have to decline media tickets." This is a news media website not just a blog. We cover news and events of all types in Orlando, Tampa and between. I like to think we can provide stories from a different perspective and give you more than other local media and news outlets. But for this story, that would have had pictures and video, we cannot. And I was looking forward to covering this event in "a frigid 9 degrees Fahrenheit."
This is Tinkerbell (aka “Tink). She is about 7-years-old and enjoys playing with fake mice (whew!) and hunting squirrles, birds, and lizards thru our front picture window. Of course, like any other kitten, she loves to EAT! She has a twin sibling named Mowgli, and has survived a brush with death when [...]
I recently learned about an event benefiting one of the most worthy nonprofits around: Special Olympics Florida. Friday evening, November 7, Jack in the Park is being held at the Winter Park Farmer’s Market. For a suggested $75 donation, you’ll have access to the event, which includes music by the Hindu Cowboys, full open bar, food from [...]
From an out-of-towner at a local conference. Definitely wasn’t sure what this was referring to, at first: Mama needs a new back door.”
If you love food (readers of this blog already know that I do), chances are we’d get along famously. If you love beer, you can pretty much bet we’d be great friends. Combine the two and…well, it’s gauranteed friendship for life! So when I saw this postcard for the upcoming Central Florida Beer Festival I was [...]
Here you see the handsomest boy in the world. Although, born under a trailer in the backwoods of Ohio, Lucas grew up to graduate first in his class from the Handsome Boys Modeling School. Now he spends his days inspiring others to find their inner beauty and allowing his Mama to scrape out crud from [...]
Publix opened its newest Central Florida location this past weekend in Downtown Orlando. Located in the base of the Paramount on Lake Eola, the store is just what you’d expect of a city grocery store … but definitely a modified version of every other Publix you’ve ever been into. I wasn’t sure what to expect, [...]
From an undisclosed office location: he’s small in all the wrong places.”
Klynn’s post on Barack OBama last week generated some conversation among our readers (I love that). Coupled with the recent national party conventions, that has led me to be a little more aware of what’s going on [politically] in our community. What did I discover? Central Floridians are certainly speaking their minds…at least in [...]
Overheard at The Lodge in downtown Orlando, a man to a woman: get me drunk and touch my head.”
As a renter, you’re at the mercy of what’s available or offered in your community. For almost 8 years I have lived without access to in-home laundry. Those days are finally over! To quote Carrie Bradshaw, “Hello, Lover …”
